Backend-led full stack engineering with a strong testing mindset across product development, support and customer engineering
Work mode: Hybrid (2 days work from office)

Shift: 2 PM IST to 11 PM IST

Role Summary
We are looking for a full-stack engineer whose centre of gravity is the backend. You will design and build API-driven, event-driven services on AWS in Python, and contribute to the React/TypeScript frontend where needed. You write well-tested code, understand how quality is built into a delivery pipeline, and can create and run automated tests to validate your own work , you are not expected to be a dedicated QA specialist. The role also includes production support and customer-engineering duties, and suits a fast-moving startup environment with a weekly release cadence.
Indicative focus: ~60% backend and cloud, ~20% frontend, ~10% testing and quality, ~10% support and customer engineering.

Key Responsibilities:
Q1 — Backend & Cloud Development (Primary Focus)
●API and service design: design, build and maintain scalable, secure, API-driven backend services in Python, with clean contracts for frontend and integration consumers (REST; GraphQL a plus)
●Cloud/event-driven development: build and maintain AWS-based components — Lambda functions and event-driven flows using SNS, SQS and Kinesis — with attention to reliability, retries, idempotency and observability
●Data layer: design data models and write efficient queries across relational and non-relational stores (MySQL, DynamoDB); own schema changes and migrations
●Integrations: build and maintain integrations with internal and third-party systems, including automation scripts and background processing
●PR review: review peers' code against team quality and architecture standards, with an eye on testability and failure handling

Q2 — Frontend Development
●Feature delivery: contribute to building and maintaining UI features in React.js/TypeScript, integrating cleanly with backend APIs
●Collaboration: work with product and design on API shape, data needs and a performant, seamless user experience

Q3 — Quality & Release (QA Capability)
●Testing your own work: write unit and integration tests for backend and frontend code as part of every change, following the test pyramid and sound test-design practice
●API and data validation: validate APIs (Postman) and data (SQL); use QASE to create and maintain test cases for the features you deliver
●CI/CD and release: run tests in the pipeline (GitHub Actions), maintain internal release documentation, and contribute to the release-train cadence and DORA metrics

Q4 — Support, Defects & Customer Engineering
●Defect resolution: own defect fixes across the stack — backend APIs and data layer first, frontend where required — and diagnose production incidents through to release
●Triage support: assist with reproducing, classifying and routing escalated tickets, particularly those that originate in backend or integration behaviour
●Customer developer support: join on-call sessions with customers to diagnose and resolve reported issues
●Technical maintenance: take on ad-hoc technical/maintenance work as a general full-stack developer — internal maintenance only, not customer-facing development

Required Qualifications
●5+ years of software engineering experience with a strong backend emphasis, and working proficiency in React.js and TypeScript
●Proficiency in Python for backend development, automation and integration
●Experience designing and building API-driven backend systems (GraphQL a plus)
●Strong hands-on experience with AWS — Lambda, SNS, SQS and Kinesis — for event-driven and serverless integrations
●Solid grounding in relational and non-relational databases (MySQL, DynamoDB), data modeling and SQL
●Working knowledge of software testing: unit, integration, API and end-to-end testing, test design, and defect lifecycle
●Comfortable with GitHub-based CI/CD (GitHub Actions) and code review practices
●Strong problem-solving skills; comfortable in early-stage startup dynamics with shifting priorities
●Experience with AI-assisted development and testing tools (Claude, Codex, or similar)

Preferred Qualifications
●AWS certification (e.g., Developer Associate or Solutions Architect Associate)
●Exposure to performance/reliability testing and observability (logging, metrics, tracing)
●Experience with test management tools (QASE) and JIRA
●Prior experience in a customer-facing on-call rotation
