Job Description:
We are looking for a Salesforce Commerce Cloud Back End Developer at Architect level to design and own enterprise-scale commerce architectures for international clients.
This is a hands-on architect role. You will define scalable, secure and maintainable technical solutions aligned to business objectives, lead architecture decisions across the full project lifecycle — solution design, implementation strategy, go-live planning and production support — and remain close enough to the code to review it and unblock the team.
You will be the primary technical point of contact for the client, facilitating architecture discussions and supporting strategic technology decisions, and you will partner with pre-sales to shape technical approach, scope and feasibility for new opportunities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design enterprise-scale Salesforce B2C Commerce Cloud architectures: solution design, data model, cartridge strategy, performance and scalability, security and maintainability.
Own architecture decisions throughout the lifecycle — discovery, design, build, go-live readiness and production support — and document the rationale.
Design and govern integrations between Commerce Cloud and surrounding systems: ERP, OMS, PIM, payment service providers, tax, fraud, marketplaces, CRM and third-party services, using API-first patterns.
Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to multidisciplinary development teams; set and enforce engineering best practices, coding standards and solution consistency.
Perform code and design reviews; act as the final technical quality gate before release.
Define and evolve CI/CD pipelines, branching strategy, environment and data management, and the release process.
Lead non-functional design: performance and load strategy, caching, observability, resilience, and peak-season (Black Friday / Cyber Monday) readiness.
Diagnose and resolve complex production issues; lead root-cause analysis and drive structural fixes.
Act as the primary technical counterpart for client architects and CTO-level stakeholders.
Support pre-sales: define technical approach, estimate scope and effort, assess implementation risk and evaluate solution feasibility.
Mentor Senior and Semi-Senior developers; grow the SFCC capability within the Studio.
Contribute to Studio accelerators, reference architectures and reusable assets.
MUST-HAVE REQUIREMENTS
12+ years in software engineering and solution architecture, including significant time designing architecture for complex enterprise systems.
Deep, hands-on Salesforce B2C Commerce Cloud (SFCC / Demandware) experience — multiple full implementations taken to production. This is a hard requirement and will be validated technically.
Salesforce Certified B2C Commerce Architect, or Salesforce Certified B2C Commerce Developer with demonstrable architecture ownership and a committed path to the Architect credential.
Strong SFCC back end development: SFRA, ISML, controllers, cartridges, jobs, Business Manager configuration, OCAPI and SCAPI / Commerce APIs.
Strong Node.js and JavaScript; solid grasp of server-side patterns, performance and memory behaviour on the SFCC platform.
Proven integration architecture experience with REST and SOAP web services and API-first design across ERP, payment providers, marketplaces and third-party platforms.
Source control and CI/CD depth: Git (GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket) and pipeline automation (Jenkins or equivalent).
Experience leading technical teams and being accountable for delivery quality, not only for design documents.
Experience acting as the client-facing technical authority, including architecture discussions with senior client stakeholders.
Experience supporting pre-sales: technical approach, estimation and risk assessment.
Agile delivery experience (Scrum, Kanban).
English at advanced or C1+ level for international client work.
NICE TO HAVE
Cloud certifications (AWS Solutions Architect or Developer Associate, or Azure / GCP equivalents).
Java or Java EE background and broader enterprise platform experience.
Exposure to Salesforce Composable Storefront / PWA Kit and headless commerce patterns.
Broader Salesforce ecosystem exposure (Order Management, Service Cloud, Data Cloud, Marketing Cloud).
Experience with AI and LLM-enabled commerce features (search, recommendations, agentic experiences) and with AI-assisted engineering practices.
Additional languages: Spanish and/or Portuguese.
MBA or postgraduate qualification in e-commerce, digital business or enterprise architecture.
