LINUX CERTIFICATE ADMINISTRATOR

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Linux Certificate Administrator with 7+ years of hands-on experience in Linux/Unix administration and enterprise certificate management. The candidate will manage SSL/TLS certificates, certificate lifecycle operations, renewals, installation, troubleshooting, and secure communications across enterprise infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage SSL/TLS certificates across Linux-based environments.
- Handle certificate lifecycle activities, including generation, renewal, installation, revocation, and replacement.
- Generate and manage Certificate Signing Requests (CSRs), private keys, certificate chains, and trust stores.
- Configure and troubleshoot certificates on Apache, Nginx, Tomcat, and other web/application servers.
- Work with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), Certificate Authorities (CAs), and enterprise certificate management platforms.
- Use OpenSSL for certificate generation, validation, inspection, and troubleshooting.
- Monitor certificate expiry and coordinate timely renewals to prevent service disruption.
- Troubleshoot SSL/TLS handshake failures, expired certificates, chain validation, and connectivity issues.
- Automate certificate operations using Shell/Bash or Python scripting.
- Perform Linux server administration, patching, security hardening, and access management.
- Maintain operational documentation and support audit/compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, security, DevOps, and application teams.

Mandatory Technical Skills

- 7+ years of hands-on Linux/Unix system administration experience.
- Strong practical experience in SSL/TLS certificate administration and lifecycle management.
- Proficiency in OpenSSL, CSR generation, private key handling, and certificate installation.
- Sound understanding of PKI concepts, Certificate Authorities, certificate chains, and trust stores.
- Experience with Apache, Nginx, Tomcat, or similar application/web servers.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for SSL/TLS and certificate-related issues.
- Shell/Bash scripting; Python scripting is an advantage.
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, networking, and security protocols.

Good to Have

- Experience with Venafi, DigiCert, Keyfactor, or other certificate lifecycle management tools.
- Knowledge of HashiCorp Vault.
- Exposure to Ansible or other configuration management tools.
- Experience with AWS or Azure environments.
- Familiarity with ITIL-based service management processes.
